Mike Gilroy Joins the Southern Alberta Mustangs as Head Coach and Co-General Manager

The Southern Alberta Mustangs Junior Hockey Team is proud to announce Mike Gilroy's appointment as Head Coach and Co-General Manager for the upcoming season.

Mike brings over two decades of coaching experience across multiple sports, with his primary focus on hockey beginning in 2007. Since then, he has coached at every level from house league to Junior A, building a strong reputation for his passionate, respectful, and communicative leadership style.

A firm believer in the ACE philosophy — Attitude, Character, and Effort — Mike instills these core values into every player he coaches. His approach balances player development and leadership growth with strong accountability, ensuring a positive, consistent, and competitive environment for athletes to thrive.

Mike lives by the motto DYBS — Do Your Best Stuff, a principle that guides his approach to coaching and leadership. His focus on daily effort, positive mindset, and consistent work ethic inspires players to maximize their potential both on and off the ice.

We are thrilled to welcome Mike Gilroy to the Mustangs family as our new Head Coach and Co-General Manager. We look forward to the passion, structure, and leadership he will bring to the team this season.
